For small business like me, social media was a God-send
So many years I hauled ass, and soil, plants, gravel and truck
From this Field Day to that Festival
Door to door, florists and gift emporiums, restaurants and offices
I’d get home more than weary, broken
Someone suggested a Facebook page, Instagram
Pictures sell!
Now, I’ve five trucks, 10 employees and give thanks and praise
For that God-sent connection and the pretty missus I found along the way
She hauls ass like you wouldn’t believe! [85 words]

Not very imaginative this week – been away from creativity for a while 😍
Thank you Rochelle Wisoff-Fields for continuing to set this 100 word or less challenge. It is certainly a commitment appreciated by many. Other 100 word stories can be read here.
I can relate to this, getting up early, loading the ute with the product, off to the market or the festival, and it’s on a wing and/or a prayer that stock is sold. Social media can be a headache or pure magic! It can help to reach out and find buyers. Great story, well done.

I really enjoyed this, Trish. The internet has changed a lot of lives for the better. I am reminded of the movie “Chef” – where the son opens a Twitter account and sales explode as a result.

Such a nice bit of misdirection. Social media, hah. I hope the missus kicks butt, too. 🙂

I’m always moaning about unsocial media, so this excellent tale reminded me that it has its uses! Well done, Trish!

I have spent many years attending and selling at show, even last weekend ! it is hard work but I like and enjoy the face to face contact,

Sometimes, all we see is the vendors sitting at their booths or tables. Seems like a pretty cushy way to make some money. What we don’t see is all the prep, months of it, that can go into the display. Good story.

Dear Trish,
Oh how I relate to this vendor. Social media does help sell. 😉 Those festivals, particularly the ones with few sales, take a toll. A lot of work for small returns. But then, are those fairs and commissions that make up for them. Lovely story in any event.
Shalom,
Rochelle

For all the work, Rochelle I suspect you get a lot of joy from the process. Watching the reaction to your pieces, giving the backstory xx
