“Oh no, Mike. Check it out,” Shauna cried.
“What am I looking for?
“The high chair. That’s Martha’s house.”
“And … “
“She’s let go! Gave it up. Caved.”
“What to?”
“Reality. Acceptance. Joey has gone. No more babies.”
“Or, Pete dumped it. He thinks ‘it’s time’,” replied Mike, shrugging.
“What? No! He can’t make that decision for Martha.”
Shauna’s expression. Sheer disbelief.
“I know for a fact he’s had enough. Thinks they need to move on. He told me he would dump it at the next council collection.”
“It’ll push her over the edge, Mike. It’ll break her!” (99 words)

This story could go so many ways. Either way, there is a lack of communication (or listening, especially) Well done, Trish.

So much grief and frustration built up very effectively in this tragic scene.

Joey’s gone; Pete’s there: where’s the baby? Or was there ever a babies? I like the conversation style.

Not only did he do it without her knowledge or consent, he has been talking with his friend about it. Sounds like a bit of a jerk. Interesting story.

Very sad. His impatience might be the undoing of his wife. I enjoyed the dialogue. It reminded me of my husband and I as we watch from the window during this time. Stay safe!

There’s something strangely compelling about this: watching people constructing their story about the world
