Photo Prompt by Rochelle
It hasn’t changed. I quietly weep.
If I waited for another five minutes, I swear dad would come through that glass paned door.
In standard heavy work boot clad feet, deep blue denim shirt, with his darkly tanned and leathered skin and bright dazzling smile. He’d push his way out, full of enthusiasm for the day.
With Bluey, his faithful Beagle leading the way.
What a team. Full of love. Inseparable. Friends for life.
And death.
Daddy died in a site accident, timber crushing his strong body.
Bluey dug desperately, for hours.
Then pined away; succumbing to heartbreak. (98 words)
Friday fictioneers is a weekly challenge set by Rochelle Wisoff Fields to write a story in response to a photo prompt – in 100 words or less. You can find other stories here.
A doubly sorrowful tale. Well done.

I think we all appreciate how our faithful pet becomes emotionally attached. Sad story with a perfect message of trust and love.

A story of extremes. I’m not sure which is sadder, the daughter’s loss of her father or the pup’s dying of grief 😦

Isn’t it interesting how two or more people could stand in front of that building and have different reactions. Happy or sad memories. A disinclination to linger, or an urge to rush in to shop! Thanks for responding.

This story is almost too heartbreaking to bear. I love how much description you fit into such a brief story. Great use of words.

Oh what a tragic story! And so well described I could almost see Bluey the beagle and his master. You do a wonderful job conveying grief.

Dear Trish,
This broke my heart. The image of the Bluey digging added sting to an already tragic story. Well constructed and described.
