Friday Fictioneers – distraction

Tip toe, through the tulips … through the tulips ….

Walking a concrete jungle, rain moistened; a slippery surface of fallen leaves

Humming to myself, lost in the freshness of clean, sweet-smelling air

Eyes part-closed, lost in solitude, the silence, the wetness

A babble, a murmur, a shuffling of feet, breaks into my reverie

Awakening to the world, intruded upon by chatter, by clatter

Opening my eyes to umbrellas!

Looking ahead, I walk on by, distracted momentarily

Dismissing the absurd, retreating to my bliss, humming to myself …. through the tulips, with me

Friday fictioneers is a weekly challenge set by Rochelle Wisoff Fields to write a 100-word story in response to a photo prompt. You can find other stories here
